Miss Vivian Munro, Director:
Miss Vivian graduated from Hunter College of the City University of New York, with a BA in Psychology. Upon graduation, she worked for McGraw Hill Book Company in Manhattan for 10 years as the Administrative Assistant to the Editorial Director of the College Division.
Miss Vivian changed careers in 1982, becoming the “Two’s Teacher” at the YMCA in Parlin, N.J. for seven years. She then proceeded to get her New Jersey Teacher Certification through the Alternate Route and worked at Children in General Child Care Center in Elizabeth, NJ.
In 1991, Miss Vivian was promoted to Director of Children In General. While there, Miss Vivian was a member of the Future Generation Director’s Forum for 6 years, developing curriculum, policy, presenting at conferences, and mentoring new staff members at various Future Generation sites. She was also a Validator for the National Association of the Education of the Young Child (NAEYC), for which she was responsible for evaluating child care programs for possible NAEYC Accreditation.
In 1997, Miss Vivian came to Crossroads, as Director, working very closely with a talented group of people on the Child Care Board and Council, as well as, a very committed and talented staff.
She has been a member of the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the New Jersey Association of the Education of Young Children (NJAEYC), the local Kenyon Chapter of NAEYC and Coalition of Infant and Toddler Education (CITE). Her business experience and education background have been very helpful in managing a center.
