Administrative and Office Staff

Miss Vivian, Director

day care directorMiss Vivian graduated from Hunter College in 1975 with a BA in Psychology. Upon graduation, she worked for McGraw Hill Book Company in Manhattan for 10 years as the Administrative Assistant for the Editorial Director of the College Division.

Miss Vivian changed careers, becoming the “Two’s Teacher” at the YMCA in Parlin, N.J. for seven years. She then proceeded to get her New Jersey Teacher Certification in 1989 through the Alternate Route Program in Early Childhood through 8th grade and was recruited as the “Two’s Teacher” for Children In General at Elizabeth General Medical Center, in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

In 1991, Miss Vivian was promoted to Director of Children In General. While there, Miss Vivian was a member of the Future Generation Director’s Forum for 5 years, developing curriculum, policy, presenting at conferences, and mentoring new staff members at various Future Generation sites.

In 1997, Miss Vivian came to Crossroads as Director working very closely with a talented group of people on the Child Care Board and Council, as well as, a very committed and talented staff.

She has been a member of the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), The New Jersey Association of the Education of Young Children (NJAEYC), the local Kenyon Chapter of NAEYC and Coalition of Infant and Toddler Education (CITE).

Miss Melina, Administrative Assistant

day care assistantMiss Melina has been at Crossroads since 2000. She has two grown children who worked at Crossroads as Teacher Aides. Miss Melina attended the Woods Secretarial Prior to relocating to New Jersey from New York, she worked as an administrative assistant for a New York firm for 9 years.

Miss Melina was also a Girl Scout Troup Leader for six years, organizing projects, crafts, fundraisers, special events and field trips. She was also a class mother for many years. Her organizational skills from all of these experiences have come in very handy!

Classroom Staff

The staff is comprised of full-time, part-time/on-call employees. Each room has a certified or group teacher and may be assisted by one or two paraprofessionals, according to ratio guidelines, as set forth, by the Department of Human Services of the Division of Youth and Family Services.

Crossroads is blessed to have longevity. Staff are truly dedicated and committed to the Mission Statement, and Educational Philosophy of our School. Each is spiritual in their own way and is each positively motivated by doing the right thing for their children and parents. They definitely go that extra mile!

Miss Daniela, Lead Teacher - Infant Room

Miss Daniela has worked at Crossroads since 2006 and graduated from Middlesex Community College with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. She started as a teacher aide, was promoted to teacher assistant, and has worked with all age groups. She again was promoted to one of the 2 Lead Teachers in our Infant Room. She loves children and is a very enthusiastic and bubbly person.

Daniela is an incredible singer! While at South River High School, she was a member of the Chorus and performed in front of an audience on many occasions. She was also on Yearbook, a member of the Photography Club and a member of S.R.S.E.C. which is a community service organization. Miss Daniela became engaged in August of 2011 to be married!

Miss Elsy, Teacher Assistant (part time) - Infant Room

Child Care TeacherMiss Elsy became a staff memenber in 2007 due to our growing Infant Room. She has 3 teenage children, Jessica, Christopher and Richard. Jessica has been a teacher aide for Crossroads.

In addition to being a full time mother, Elsy works part time for her own Auto Repair business. She loves babies so much, that when her daughter found out we were looking for an Infant Room Assistant, she was the first person to apply.

We are lucky to have her nurturing, loving, gentle and positive attitude. She always greets everyone with a smile!

Miss Alyssa, Lead Teacher - Infant Room

Miss Alyssa has been with us since 2007. She has been a member of Christ Memorial's congregation since she was born, has been very active in the Youth Group and other ministries and has been Secretary of the Church Council for several years.

Alyssa, as Daniela, started at Crossroads as a Teacher Aide, was promoted to a Teacher Assistant and promoted again to one of the 2 Lead Teachers in the Infant Room. She has the wonderful quality of being able to work with various age groups. Although she is a full time employee, she is also taking on line courses through Thomas Edison State College.

Her maturity, love and dedication to the children and program are always apparent.

Miss Katelynn, Teacher Assistant - Infant Room

Miss Katelynn, started working at Crossroads in 2010. She graduated from Sayreville War Memorial H.S and is currently enrolled in college. Her schedule fits in nicely as Miss Elsy's counterpart in the afternoon. She is extremely mature, responsible, detail oriented and is a perfect fit to work with infants.

Her younger brother attended Crossroads, as well as her younger cousin, so her family has been involved with Crossroads for years.

Miss Crystal, Lead Teacher - Toddler/Young Two's Room

child care lead teacherMiss Crystal has been with Crossroads since 2006 when we opened our Infant Room. She was the Lead Teacher in this room, then was moved to the Toddler Room when her son was born and was enrolled in our program. Miss Crystal worked at Agapeland, a Christian child care center, as a teacher assistant and camp counselor for 6 years. She also worked for the Goddard School for a year.

She is just shy 1 semester of receiving her BS in Biology from William Paterson University.

Miss Crystal has also volunteered for the Children's Ministry at Faith Fellowship Ministries for over 10 years and we are happy to have her commitment, dedication and ambition to help grow your children.

Miss Trish, Teacher Assistant - Toddler/Two's Room

Miss Trish has been with us since 2009 and has been consistently in this room.

She has worked with children her entire life. She home schooled her 2 boys. One is a teenager and the other grown. At the same time, she took care of children in her home. She was enrolled in a child care coop program and has had extensive experience as a nanny, as well as, working as a teacher's assistant at Middlesex County College Child Care Center and the East Brunswick YMCA nursery school.

She is great with the children, offering a nurturing and peaceful demeanor to them.

Miss Maria, Teacher Assistant - Toddler/Two's Room

Has been with us since September of 2011. She has a BA degree from Baruch College of CUNY. She grew up in New York and relocated to New Jersey in the 90's. She has 3 children.

Maria worked in a local preschool/child care setting for 8 years with children ranging from 3-5. She also ran a weekly Mommy and Me program with children from 18 months to 3 years of age.

She currently works in the Toddler/Two's Room and finds it to be a very rewarding experience. She is wonderful with the children, very flexible and able to go with the flow of things. At home, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.

Miss Noelle, Lead Teacher (CDA) - OlderTwo's/Young Preschool Room

In 2010, Miss Noelle joined the Crossroads staff.

Prior to becoming a teacher, she acquired her certification in I-CD9 Medical coding and worked for RCHP/HIP for 9 years in medical records. Upon having her son, she re-evaluated her career, and wanted to spend as much time with young children as possible. She especially loves music/ movement activities and reading to the children. She is very creative and animated and makes learning fun.

Noelle began her career with children at a local preschool/child care center as a Teacher's Assistant in 2000 and in 2006 was promoted to lead teacher of a 2 year old classroom. She has worked with children from 2 to 4 years of age. She has her Child Development Associate by the Council for Professional Recognition Program, for which she has to take courses and renew every three years.

When her 2 daughters were young, she was a Girl Scout Leader for 5 years. She currently assists her son's Boy Scout Troup whenever needed. She loves to scrapbook with her daughter and Miss Diane and spend time with her family.

Miss Nelsy, Teacher Assistant - Older Two's/Young Preschool Room

Miss Nelsy worked in the child care field for 8 years in Florida and New Jersey before coming to Crossroads in 2006. She started as a Teacher Assistant until Miss Crystal had her son and had to move to another room. She then became lead teacher in the Infant Room in 2009. She has 2 children, Isabella and Sylar, who was born in 2011, and enrolled in the Infant Room, causing Nelsy to move to another room. She also started a CDA program before moving back to New Jersey from Florida.

She was a homecare provider for a number of families until their children were old enough to attend elementary school. She is very kind and giving, always willing to jump in and help. She loves the children as they do her.

Miss Sue, Certified Teacher - Older Preschool Room

In 2003, Miss Sue joined the Crossroads Staff. Miss Sue has her BA from Concordia College and was a History Major. She continued graduate studies in Education at Wagner College before relocating to New Jersey. Miss Sue also spent many years working in Manhattan and Staten Island as an administrative assistant, office manager, etc. She has since had a career change, wanting to utilize her education and work with children; therefore she obtained her Teacher Certification through the Alternate Route. She takes her mission to teach very seriously and she is extremely creative, loves music and movement an loves to read to the children. She keeps the children happily busy all day!

Miss Sue grew up in Staten Island, NY and is a wife and mother of two grown children, Matt and Juliana. She comes from a large family and children have always been a part of her life.

While in high school, Miss Sue ran the Sunday nursery school program at her church. Upon graduation, from H.S., she served as Adult Leader of the Youth Group, and was the 8th grade Confirmation teacher.

When her children were small, she was involved with the PTA and girl scouts. Miss Sue has been a member of Christ Memorial and has been active in the Sunday School Program, Youth Group, Choir and Council.

Her daughter Juliana has also been a teacher aide for 4+ years at Crossroads.

Miss Kathy, Teacher Assistant - Older Preschool Room

Miss Kathy is formally from Maryland and has had some college courses. She then decided to get married and raise her children. She has 4 grown children, Billy, Jimmy, Brendan and Kelly and has been very active in various sports activities that her children have been involved in.

Miss Kathy has been with us since 2006, and her son, Billy, was a teacher aide, as well. Miss Kathy is very thoughtful, has a good sense of humor, and is always bringing in special things for the teachers and children.

Kathy also volunteers her time in the Thirft Shop, and Wednesday night suppers at St. Peter's church in Spotswood.

Miss Ann Marie, Certified Teacher - Older Pre-K

Miss Ann Marie has been a teacher for over twenty five years and has been at Crossroads since 1998. She is also the Assistant Director at Crossroads and has a BA from Douglas College University in Psychology and Education. She also has dual certifications in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She has taught a variety of age groups throughout her career and has found a nice niche with her pre-k children, here at Crossroads.

"I believe that children must establish a basic feeling of well-being, which is essential to successful learning. I also believe that children love to learn and do this best by becoming actively involved in their own education.” Miss Ann Marie is very actively involved in her church, bringing her spiritualism into her classroom, guiding her children to be respectful and kind."

She is a wonderful and thoughtful teacher, providing them with wonderful and ample activities. She is diligent about preparing them for Kindergarten and loves to cook in her class have picnics!

Miss Diane, Teacher Assistant - PreK

Miss Diane came to us in 2010, with 7 years of experience with various ages at a previous local preschool/child care center. She is a mother of 4 school aged children and is very involved in programming for them: she has been class parent, is the president of the Band Pareants Association, she is the team photographer for her son's soccer team and volunteer's at her church for events and Sunday School.

Her children are involved with music, dance, soccer, 4H and softball. Having a large family with many activities has taught her to multitask and be patient, allowing her to take very good care of her Crossroad's children. She stresses courtesy and respect for all.

She loves to scrapbook with Miss Noelle and is interested in photography.

Miss Pia, Kitchen Coordinator/Cook

Miss Pia has been a staff member since 2006. Prior to coming to Crossroads, Pia worked with mentally challenged adults for 10 years, until she relocated from update New York to our region. Prior to working with this population of adults, Miss Pia also assisted in running 2 family owned restaurants for 11 years.

She is very dedicated maintaining a clean and neat kitchen and providing excellent meals to the children and staff, many of which she makes from scratch. Her meatloaf, Alfredo sauce and Bolognese sauce are out of this world, as well as many other recipes. She is always looking to make something different and she has always produced a winner!

Pia has 4 grown children and 6 grand daughters, 3 of which have attended Crossroads.
